Paul joined the NCA in July 2019 in the National Intelligence Hub, where he led a range of capabilities including the National Firearms Targeting Centre, the National Drugs Targeting Centre and Tactical Analysis. In July 2021 he was appointed Deputy Director of National Tasking and Co-ordination to lead SOC System Tasking and the United Kingdom Protected Persons Service. In December 2022 he was appointed to lead the National Cyber Crime Unit. In this role he is the NCA’s Gold Commander for Operation CRONOS, the NCA led international response to Lockbit Ransomware. Paul chairs the Five Eyes Cybercrime Community of Practice. He also founded and previously chaired C9 (Cybercrime 9) - an international law enforcement collaboration with Europol, Dutch, German, French, and Five Eyes agencies.
